And you have better things to do than spend all day in the kitchen trying new recipes.

When I'm in the mood for a chicken wrap and pancakes, I head over to my favorite restaurant down the block where I get to enjoy them without having to lift a damn finger.

But cooking at home?

I want it to feel effortless. That means no whipping batter or stuffing Ziploc bags.

A quick and healthy bodybuilding snack for busy guys should fulfill four criteria:

For a quick pulse of protein on the run (one that doesn't require any refrigeration), pick any of these:

  • Beef jerky

  • Canned tuna or salmon

By placing a mini cooler in the back of your car, you can expand this list to include cottage cheese, Greek or Icelandic yoghurt, and cold cuts of ham, beef, or turkey.

#1. Protein Smoothie

Throw a scoop of protein powder and a few fruits/berries in a blender. Press "go". Drink.

If you're lean but skinny, and need to gain more size, add some oats and peanut butter into the mix for another few hundred calories.

#2. Icelandic Yoghurt (Skyr) & Fruits

A cup of Skyr (a thick and creamy Icelandic yoghurt), contains a decent amount of protein with negligible carbs.

Strawberry & banana, pear & vanilla, and caramel are my three go-to flavors.

Mix it with some fruits or berries, and it beats any sugary treat you're saving for cheat day.

#3. Egg Salad

One of my all-time favorites, an egg salad covers all your nutritional bases:

It's rich in protein, vitamin, minerals, and good fats. 

Meal prep takes just five minutes:

Boil or cook 2-4 eggs.

Slice up 3-4 vegetables such as carrots, tomatoes, bell peppers, or avocado.

Done!

#4. Roast Beef Sandwich

I'm not a huge sandwich guy because I don't tolerate starches well.

But I can still enjoy a roast beef sandwich now and then without wrecking my physique.

You'll need:

  • Fresh bread 
  • Natural butter
  • Edam, gouda, or other cheese for flavor
  • Tomato and avocado for freshness
  • Roast beef cuts to bring it home

As far as quick post-workout grubs go, this one is the bomb.

#5. Jerky & Berries

Combine a small bag of jerky with a plateful of fresh strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries...

A perfect pairing packed with protein and pep!
